For Stacey’s birthday, we took a short drive to the oceanfront and spent two nights at the gorgeous Cavalier Hotel. It’s a place that’s deeply special to us—feeling like a world away while still right in our backyard. Every visit brings a rare kind of relaxation we don’t find anywhere else

Our first stop was Becca for Sunday brunch, with Emily and Luke joining us. As always, the food was delicious, and we couldn’t resist sneaking in an obligatory selfie in the beautiful lobby

Luke gave Stacey a few thoughtful gifts, including her favorite Reese’s Pieces to enjoy back in the room. He also offered to take a picture of just us, so I thought I’d share it here.

We were fortunate to get an early check in, which allowed us to sneak in the always appreciated afternoon nap! The room had a nice view of the freezing rain that we were happy to be sheltered quite comfortably from. We settled in and watched the Pats beat the Texans to advance to the AFC Championship. Go Pats! 🏈 Our dinner plans included reservations at Orion’s Roof across the street right on the ocean. It was Stacey’s first visit, and I assure her that the view during the day is pretty spectacular. We will definitely go again before sunset next time! When we got back to the room, we found a delicious piece of chocolate cake and a lovely birthday note from the staff – and yes, it was DELICIOUS.

After a small cup of coffee in the room, we strolled down to the Raleigh Room for something a bit more substantial. It was wonderfully quiet and peaceful down there. Stacey headed off to the spa for a facial, while I made my way to the hot tub and pool—where, for a little while, I had the whole place entirely to myself.

We had a lovely walk on the beach. It was a bit brisk, but still quite pleasant.

Dinner in the Hunt Room was delicious, as always. Overall, we had a fabulous time celebrating Stacey’s birthday and can’t wait to get back to the Cavalier hotel!
