First Paddle of the Season

Yesterday I got the kayak out and headed to Stumpy Lake with my good camera for a leisurely paddle. The lake is quite peaceful, with access among the trees along the shoreline. I found the turtles to be the most shy of the wildlife here. They are the quickest to leave their perch on trees or logs and seek safety underwater as they sense your approach. Still, I must have seen a hundred of them sunning themselves on a beautiful day. I watched an egret slowly walk along the shore eating dinner for quite a while before he magically took flight just in front of me as I snapped a photo from behind. There were big fish jumping, but I wasn’t able to catch any of them on film. Maybe next time! After getting home, I opened the outdoor shower for the season and enjoyed a cold beer out there. Flowers are blooming and the season of sitting on the deck has officially begun! Hope you all are enjoying a nice Sunday in Spring! 🌻💐
