In my “Sandbridge Framily 2024”post from Thanksgiving, I noted some of the beach houses I saw that had great names. Stacey and I love to see the names of the houses and dream of what witty or cute name we would have for our mythical beach house. We saw more that I like here during our morning walk, and I thought I’d share a few now, than maybe find some more and share them later.

There are obviously stories behind each of the names that for now are left to our own imaginations!

Bapa and I were fortunate to again enjoy a round at one of my favorite golf courses – Widow’s Walk here in Scituate. Several of his regular Wednesday buddies joined us, though only the two of us played the back nine. So we decided to make it fun and did a two-man scramble. It was FANTASTIC! Low pressure, fun golf is the very best. We were four under on the back nine in our scramble format! Here we are on the 17th tee!

We picked up pizza on the way home from the best pizza place ever and broke slices together on the back porch on a lovely evening. Another fine New England day!

Tastes like summah to me

Charlie awoke earlier than usual this morning and wanted to go outside. I was happy to oblige, and was welcomed by the glow of a new day just a few steps from the door. I’ve read that sunrise is nature’s daily masterpiece. I believe.

A new day… 9/4/2025

A house up the street has a pretty good deal on bike rentals for a week. I love the homemade sign.

This afternoon, we went to visit our Brother-in-law Dave who was working a shift at the Scituate Fire Station. Dave is married to Stacey’s sister Sara, and very recently took his talents over here from Connecticut. He is an extremely hard working man with a heart of gold. Upon arrival, we found a quiet station and took the opportunity for – you guessed it – an obligatory selfie!

Behind the Ladder Truck, I spotted what looked like antique wheels tucked under a tarp. I asked Dave what that might be, and he proudly revealed the refurbished Engine # 2 from Scituate Fire! The Chief joined us, and after introductions, he explained that the vehicle had been located in a field in Pennsylvania. After some negotiations and logistical planning, it was brought back here to be refurbished. Money was raised to fund the work, and it was turned over to South Shore Vocational High school. Over the course of about a full academic year, the students of various trades were led in bringing this gorgeous vehicle back to life. I, for one, believe they did a truly incredible job. Engine 2 is amazing, and it runs! What a great story we were treated to! Thanks Dave, and thank you Chief! 🚒

Before the story ended, there was a call to the station about an elderly man experiencing discomfort. Dave and a colleague jumped into the ambulance and screamed away to render assistance. First Responders are the heroes we all forget are there until that unexpected moment when we need them most. Keep those men and women on the front line in your thoughts and pray that they remain safe while watching out for the rest of us. Thanks again Dave!
