Our host Bridget told us yesterday that we should stay in Cushendun “into the afternoon” before leaving. She was happy to hear we tried. After sleeping in, we made ourselves a nice breakfast in the kitchen with the provisions of bacon, sausage and buns Bridget had left in the fridge. Then we walked down past the cattle and sheep to the beach to look for seaglass. Both Stacey and I love to comb any beach for seaglass, and shells, and treasures of all kinds. We found a good load of gorgeous glass here on the beach at Cushendun. It was an incredibly serene morning, with no real timetable to follow. After pocketing a nice stash, I took a refreshing dip. As I walked out, a local taking a walk exclaimed “Now ye cen say ye been in te Irish Sea!” Yes Sir, I can.
Our final destination today was Belfast, a very short journey. We didn’t leave Cushendun until almost noon! It was SO nice to take our time and have a leisurely drive south. The town of Larne was our stop for lunch, mostly so I could get a picture of Ferris Point Lighthouse. We had a delicious meal at The Olderfleet Bar and Grill, where The Open Championship was on. Treat!
The better stop was in Whitehead, where Stacey found us a cozy little coffee shop for a ‘cup a’ and some sweets. We walked in to find a session of musicians gathered to entertain us. They were excellent! It was cool to watch them tapping their feet and nodding at each other, knowing what we learned on our crawl in Dublin. The town was yet another picturesque sample of coastal Ireland.
Our arrival in Belfast came well before 5 PM, and afforded us with time for a nice nap. Hunting seaglass can be ever so tiresome! 😉 After dinner, we had a nice walk back to the hotel and stopped at a few historic spots along the way. We have found this city to be a really nice merger of historic and modern in our short time here so far. Doing the Titanic Experience in the morning before we drive to Shannon tomorrow afternoon. All Hail King Sized Beds! 🛏️

Great find at the beach!!!😍
