It was nice to sleep in a bit, as the miles we needed to cover decreased a little today. There was very little traffic as we left El Paso and we quickly found ourselves in the land of enchantment, New Mexico. It is a pretty state indeed, and one we visited together decades ago for a stay In Albuquerque. Fortunately, our shorter destination allowed us to include our first National Park of this trip enroute to Phoenix. Just east of Tucson, we got off route 10 West and made our way to the Saguaro National Park. This is a stunning landscape we had never seen before. The park is named after the native saguaro cacti that grow naturally here. We found each of them to be quite unique, and probably took too many pictures of the gorgeous Sonoran Desert scenery. Add it to your list as a must see, if only for a short drive through. 🌵
Our arrival in Tempe was early enough to allow for a leisurely walk to The Chuckbox, a fantastic little burger joint near the campus of ASU. It was delicious! We then headed to Phoenix Municipal Stadium to enjoy America’s past time, as the Sun Devils hosted Seattle University. ⚾️🇺🇸⚾️ It was a beautiful night for baseball, though it got chillier than I expected here in Arizona! Loved seeing Pedroia’s Alma Mater!
Tomorrow morning, we pick up Ryan and Melissa at the airport and head north to the Grand Canyon! So looking forward to it!

Tempe is such a cute college town-I wish we had more time here!
I can’t believe how far we’ve come in just 4 days! I will admit it’s been much more fun than I thought it would be driving such long days but we’ve done something fun in each city!
