A Grand Day!

It was again nice to wake up naturally without an alarm clock! We picked up Melissa and Ryan at the airport in Phoenix at 8 AM and had a leisurely and lovely drive to Sedona. You begin to be amazed with the stunning views this gorgeous state has to offer as you approach this quaint town. While a bit more touristy than maybe we expected, it was a great stop for lunch, some shopping, and ice cream! Our path north from there took us into the Coconino National Forest. We hugged along Oak Creek and saw some breathtaking vistas along the way. Of course, none of those views quite prepares you for the epic first look at The Grand Canyon. It truly does take your breath away. I will admit that I got a little choked up staring out at this majestic canyon, realizing how little Ryan and Emily were the last time we were here nearly 23 years ago. Life is so good – count your blessings everyone. We made it back, and are looking forward to a full day in this special park tomorrow.
