In 2023, Stacey and I were walking the beach in Cushendun up in Northern Ireland looking for sea glass. I decided to take a quick swim. As I came out to dry off, an elderly gentleman was walking the beach and approached me. He smiled and said โ€œNow yeee can say yeee been in teee Irish Sea!โ€

Our destination was Arklow Golf Course, nestled nicely on the coast of the beautiful Irish Sea. Upon arrival, we quickly realized we had indeed found ourselves a hidden gem. There was no fanfare – just a gorgeous links course with a steady mist falling from the skies. A friendly gentleman greeted us in the Pro Shop, and it was clear that we were the only tourists there today. This promised to be an enjoyable round of golf on a scenic track.

This was a spectacular place, and I turned in my best round of the trip so far. Of course, Ryan chose the same day to play his best golf as well, edging me by two strokes! Dadโ€™s putter wasnโ€™t quite up to par, and the overall competition tightened considerably as Ryan vaulted into a razor-thin lead.

With just three rounds remaining, all three players find themselves within three shots of first place. You really couldnโ€™t ask for a better setup heading down the stretch. More importantly, weโ€™re making memories together on this gorgeous island that will last far longer than any scorecard. โ›ณ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ†

Bapa loves bananas, and years ago Emily bought him banana containers on lanyards. They made it to Ireland, and will surely make it to Scotland as well.

Banana shenanigans

After a nice stop for dimmer in Greystones, we made our way to our lodging in Howth, just outside Dublin.

Weโ€™re settled in for two nights, which is a welcome change of pace. Howth Golf Course tomorrow!
