After a great night of sleep, we woke up on the edge of this pretty canal to plenty of sunshine and a crisp 55 degrees! It was wonderful. After a walk with Charlie, it started to climb into the 70’s and I decided to launch one of the kayaks off the dock in the back yard for a paddle. It was a bit tricky because of low tide, but that meant it took 3 minutes instead of 2! I took 2 turns up the canal and was out on the Caloosahatchee River in 10 minutes. I leisurely made my way back to the house and found Stacey and Charlie sitting on the dock. What a beautiful spot for a paddle, but it was time to get ready for some Red Sox baseball! ⚾️

It was about a 30 minute drive to JetBlue Park in Fort Myers from our lovely AirBnB. We hit no traffic until a mild delay getting into the parking lot. From there, a short 3 minute walk found us inside of Fenway South! As we walked in, it was kind of set up like the old Yawkey Way, with tents and vendors and souvenirs all along a nice walkway. We made our way to the main store to spend too much money on things we don’t need. America! We tried to get two sausages all the way a couple times, but they ran out of peppers and onions twice. You have to have them done right, so we decided to be patient. Our seats out by “Pesky’s Southern Pole” (my words) were nice, but a little loud with a group of about 300 school children behind us. After the first, we headed towards the third base line where we spied a few empty rows in the shade. On the way, we tried again for two sausages all the way, and our patience was rewarded! DELICIOUS! We settled in for a pitcher’s duel that moved quickly. About this time, our AWESOME AirBnB hosts texted us to tell us they had just taken Charlie on a nice walk, gave her some water, and gave her a treat! Talk about above and beyond!! The Sox scored the only run of the game in the 7th and held on to win 1-0. Hope does indeed Spring Eternal! We were out of the parking lot in five minutes and stopped for a pork loin to throw on the grill for dinner. Life is good!

Dinner was quite yummy! Afterward, we decided to close the day with a sunset paddle. Stacey hopped on a paddle board while I kayaked right behind her. What a peaceful way to end a nice day in the Florida sun.
